Timeless Portraits in Oil — A Legacy to Last Generations

“The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance.” — Aristotle

Life moves quickly, and the moments we cherish most often pass too soon. A portrait offers a way to preserve those fleeting moments—capturing not only a likeness, but the spirit, emotion, and essence of a person or memory.

Whether celebrating a milestone, honoring a loved one, or creating a meaningful gift, a custom portrait becomes a lasting tribute. These works are more than paintings—they are heirlooms, treasured for generations and deeply felt by those who receive them. Few gifts evoke such genuine emotion; many of my clients describe their portraits as unforgettable, often bringing tears of joy upon unveiling.

I specialize in highly realistic oil portraits, with the option of a more expressive, painterly style. My preferred medium is oil for its richness and longevity, though pastels and charcoal also offer beautiful, enduring alternatives when properly preserved.

I am particularly drawn to candid compositions—capturing individuals, children, or even beloved pets in natural settings, engaged in what they love most. These personal elements bring authenticity and life to each piece.

The Process

Each portrait begins with a shared vision. I prefer to work from life whenever possible, as even a brief sitting allows me to understand the subject’s personality and presence. For clients at a distance, I also work from photographs, which I carefully review for quality and suitability.

Portraits can include multiple subjects, various compositions (head-and-shoulders or full-length), and personalized backgrounds. Pets and additional details may be incorporated as desired. I maintain artistic discretion to enhance the final work while staying true to the subject.

Throughout the process, I provide progress updates and welcome your input. Completion time typically begins at three months, depending on the complexity and scale of the piece.

Additional Offerings

In addition to portraiture, I create heirloom still life paintings—thoughtfully arranged collections of meaningful objects such as family keepsakes, childhood treasures, or items passed down through generations. These pieces become deeply personal works of art that honor memory and legacy.

Presentation

Each portrait is delivered ready to hang in a classic frame, with the option to customize further. A plaque bearing the title and artist’s name may be included. I believe the frame should complement the artwork, enhancing its presence without overpowering it.
